This is the first year that I’ve used Dried Oranges as part of my Christmas Decor. Dried Orange Garland is such an inexpensive and easy way to bring natural elements into your home during the Holiday Season.
What You Will Need
1 | 4-6 Navel Oranges
2 | Sharp Knife
3 | Cutting Board
4 | Cookie Sheets
5 | Parchment Paper
6 | String or Twine
7 | Scissors
Step 1
Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.
Step
Line baking sheets with parchment paper
Step 3
Slice oranges 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick, blot extra liquid with paper towel and place them in a single layer on the baking sheet
Step 4
Bake for 2-3 hours. did a few batches and found that 3 hours was a bit better. I also flipped the oranges at the half way mark
Step 5
Once they were finished baking, I let them cool on a rack overnight. This ensures they are fully dried out and easy to thread.
Making the Garland
My method may not be the fanciest method but it worked well! I took the string I wanted to use and tied it around a toothpick. I then used the toothpick to “sew” through the oranges creating a string of oranges aka orange garland.
Another method if you want the oranges to appear as if they’re floating is to use fishing line.
Once you’ve got your oranges dried, there are a bunch of ways to use them in your Christmas Home Decor. I also added an orange to each place setting at my Christmas Tablescape. Another way that I used the oranges is by adding them to my Christmas Wreath.
How are you using your dried oranges? Have you made a Dried Orange Garland? I’d love to see how it turned out! DM me or tag me in Instagram
